Que Pasó...

Hola amigos!

Sólo un rápida actualización de que pasó recientemente en Bogotá. Por normal, he estado ocupado, buscando para diferentes oportunidades y cosas hacer. La semana pasada fue algo como esto:

Miércoles - Aguapanelitas, una ocasión caminar El Centro por la noche y ofrecer pan y aguapanela, un té caliente colombiano hecho de caña de azúcar. Siempre un oportunidad ver la otra Bogotá y conocer diferentes amigos. Esta vez hablamos con un nuevo amigo quien estaba un poco demasiado feliz, energético y amistoso (tal vez un poco demasiado de la numero uno exporta colombiana ilegitima?).

Jueves - Club Español a la Universidad Nacional, una reunión para extranjeros para nosotros para practicar español. Esta semana incluyendo un rendimiento de una grupa de música típica de la costa de Colombia, y vino gratis! :)

Viernes - 1) ArtBo, una colaboración de las gallerías de Bogota de arte contemporáneo. 2) Feria Gastronomía, la feria de comida gourmet. 3) Liminocidio al Teatro Barraca, un obra de teatro de mi amigo Mauricio, un súper chévere drama sicológico.

Sábado - Ciudad Bolívar, con mi amiga loca y su grupo universidad, fuimos al barrio infame para ver la Fundación Social Oasis. Una chévere experiencia y muy interesante oportunidad aprender sobre la condiciones en Ciudad Bolívar y también lo que las fundaciones como la social oasis hacen. Tal vez yo volveré ayudar, estoy mirando los logísticos ahora para ver si puedo volver ayudar. Mire los fotos de abajo.

Domingo - La Semana Del Cine Colombiano, yo fui a mirar una película de la festival llama Pecados de Mi Padre, sobre el hijo de Pablo Escobar y su perspectiva de su padre y su historia.

Algunos locos días de viene... la inauguración de La Villa (un nuevo club de amigos) esta noche, Caribou mañana por la noche, tal vez trabajaré con Un Techo Para Mi Pais por la fin de semana, y no podemos olvidar Halloween!

Just a quick update on what has been happening lately in Bogotá. As normal, I've been busy looking for different opportunities and things to do. Last week went something like this:


Wednesday - Aguapanelitas, a chance to walk around downtown with an informal group of locals at night and offer bread and aguapanela, a Colombian tea made from sugar cane. Always a good chance to see the other side Bogota and meet new friends. This time we chatted with a new amigo who was a little too happy, energetic and friendly (perhaps he had recently been indulging in a little too much of the number one illegitimate Colombian export?) but a great guy all the same.


Thursday - Spanish Club at the Universidad Nacional, a club for foreigners and an opportunity for us gringos to practice a little Spanish with other foreigners and a few locals. This week included a random performance of a typical band of the Caribbean coast of Colombia in a hallway of the university, and free wine! Universidad Nacional is certainly nothing like any other university I have been to.


Friday - 1) ArtBo, a collaboration of galleries of contemporary art in Bogota. 2) Gastronomía, gourmet food fair. 3) Liminocidio the Barraca Theatre, a play by my amigo Maurice, a very cool psychological drama.


Saturday - Ciudad Bolivar, with my loca friend and her university group, we went to the infamous neighbourhood of Bogotá known as Ciudad Bolivar to check out a local NGO called Fundación Social Oasis. A cool experience and an exciting opportunity to learn more about the conditions in Ciudad Bolivar and also the work of the local NGOs like Social Oasis and the challenges they face. I'm considering an opportunity to volunteer there and help out a little, but I need to look at the logistics first. Check out the photos below.


Sunday - Colombian Film Week, I joined a few friends and went to watch a Colombian film called Sins of my Father, about the son of Pablo Escobar and his perspective of his father and his story.


Some crazy days to come... the opening of La Villa (a friend's new club) tonight, tomorrow night Caribou, maybe work with Un Techo Para Mi Pais by the weekend, and we can not forget Halloween!
